Not actually about Christmas but it was a Christmas hit even though the story behind it is really quite sad, getting near the end of the Christmas list now, this is East 17 with Stay Now.
Everybody knocks Cliff, but he's made some of the longest lasting Christmas songs out there, this particular one is about the bloke that started it all.
We've got one from the beginning of the 21st Century now, very much in the style of the old 70s ones, this is The Darkness and Christmas Time (Don't Let The Bells End).
Here's another one from when Christmas Music was fun and happy and had sleigh bells and children singing, this is Wizzard with I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.
Another seasonal classic for the Hogwatch season, this is Walking In The Air, not the Aled Jones version, this is Nighwish making it heavy, not arf pop pickers.
It's December, that means that it's nearly time for the retail stores to get Easter eggs out, it also means that it's the time of year when they play Christmas music or in the case of stupid stores, "Winter Holiday Music". I find it dissapointing that very most of the great Christmas tunes come from the about 20 years or so ago. There's nothing that I'm aware of being produced these days but I really would like to be proven wrong
This time of the year is supposed to be a joyous occasion, designed to bring loved ones and families together to celebrate the birth of a child just over 2,000 years ago. The fact that he wasn't born in December has nothing to do with it whatsoever. At this time of the year, the music world needs another Slade or Wizard or even Cliff Richard, nobody is taking up the challenge. And so we begin with my countdown to Christmas, Hogfather's Day or whatever your belief is. I'm starting with a track from a chap called Pete Jones and this is a newer track. If this track doesn't do anything for you then you ain't human. This is Pete Jones in the guise of Tiger Moth Tales and Match Girl.
